What a whirlwind May was!
I spent a lot of time this month focused on my unfinished paintings. One of which was a painting I took a long break from. I did this because I was actually so happy with it! I love how I’d painted the face and it had come out smooth, buttery and bright. My next step was putting in the water.
I couldn’t bring myself to ruin it by putting in water that I wasn’t just as happy with. I put it aside and promised myself I would be brave enough soon. That’s something I didn’t expect when I went down this path of being an artist. Of how much bravery would come into it, in so many forms.
Bravery in finishing a painting, step by step.
Bravery in putting yourself out there for the world to see.
Bravery in being vulnerable in your art.
Bravery, by continuing when there seems to be no hope of ‘success’.
Bravery in so many ways!
I’m so happy with how the painting came out once I stepped up to the plate and took the plunge.
‘Coron’
Oil on Canvas
‘Coron’ is inspired by my time spent in the Philippines. I saw the most beautiful bodies of water there, but especially in a place named Coron, Palawan. There I swam in beautiful turquoise waters that were filled with life. I wanted to paint something to honour the beautiful feeling of truly just enjoying what nature has to offer.
I also finished another painting
‘Midnight Haven’
Acrylic on canvas
I really enjoyed creating this painting as another addition to my ‘Sirens of Psilocybin’ collection. It feels like it’s my Scorpio soul embodied. Unafraid to embrace the darkness and in fact feel comfort in it.
I love the development of this collection and this has been a beautiful scene to create, further inspiring me for more to add to the collection.
Going into June I have some exciting new paintings to reveal! I also have a fun challenge planned so I’m looking forward to diving into that and seeing what comes up!
Thank you for your support, let's continue to grow and be blessed in June. :)
Love,
Jalieka
